I have a neighbor who plays bass, quite well in fact, and who is heavily involved in his church. He has done this benefit project for a couple of years and I mentioned if they needed a guitar player I’d find the time. Well it all worked out and I’ve been rehearsing with them for weeks now. The show is to benefit the Crowley foundation and the Rachel B. Noel Middle School. It’s been quite an experience so far and one that I will be pleased to remember forever. It’s a large group consisting of 4 singers, sax, keyboards, bass, guitar, and drums. Everyone is quite good at what they do so the show will be very professional. The theme is Decades of Love II: Love songs from the 50′s through today. The show is on May 12 (it’s in the GIG calendar too). They even talked me into singing one of the tunes!
If you have that Saturday free I guarantee you a good time with great music!

If you follow this BLOG at all then you know I’ve mentioned progress on my blues/rock CD.But it has stalled many times due to many reasons: lack of time, lack of inspiration, equipment not working properly, etc. However I’ve been putting a lot of effort into all those areas and more to get it off the ground. My goal is to release at least an EP this year, but preferably an entire CD with at least 60 minutes of music. It could finally happen but my songwriting is going slow. I am getting some other musicians involved in the recording process so that will help with arrangements. I am always open to a song writing partner but have yet to find the right fit.

Watch for updates and pre-release mixes of new (and some old) songs. I’m excited to get this moving forward again!

I sell stock images for use in publications, web sites, etc. through several agencies around the world. Mainly 3D images but some photographs too. Shutterstock is one of those agencies and a very large one too. One of my stock images has reached number 10 of the 50 most popular images on Shutterstock this week: http://tinyurl.com/yjuauub. A feat not easily attained. No one is more surprised than me either. This image has taken OFF completely the last 3 weeks. It’s always sold well but sales have gone crazy lately. This time of year seems to be good for stock sales anyway.

I’m quite happy about it though. So I guess I have make more of these…

On The Recording Project forums a gentleman named Moon posted a track in which he wanted several guitarists to post their take on jamming over it. His intention was to take them and mix them into a full song. I was lucky enough to get 2 of my takes chosen for this and I think its a fun song. I did the acoustic guitar track (on a really badly setup guitar that buzzed a lot) and the solo electric guitar which follows it and appears again at the end. I need to fix some of the notes one of these days but for a one-take-fun-jam its all good. The track ended up being titled FALLING.

I went into this contest knowing that I probably wouldn’t win but confident that if I did things right that I could. Well I didn’t do things right. I tried too hard. That along with some complications with a pinched nerve in my right elbow (known as cubital tunnel), making it hard to hold on the pick, I lost in the store finals. I won 1st place in the preliminary round but that doesn’t mean a lot. I’ll try again next year and bring my blues “A” game. I lost the blues completely in the store finals. I didn’t deserve to win it really.

Here is the first round video:

And now I have the second round up:
